The fourth season of the Dungeon is over. As Treguard and Pickle make Knightmare Castle ready for its coming months of dormancy, they receive two disturbing messages. One, a sinister warning, the other an explosive offer that could change the nature of both the Dungeon and its inner conflicts forever... but at a terrible price.

Treguard casts a peculiar spell that causes Lord Fear to become possessed by the Spirit Of Christmas, turning the technomancer to the ways of honour, justice, and even love. Just as the Dungeon Master is busy congratulating himself on his handiwork, Majida discovers that the magic has an awkward side-effect.

The Dungeon has been dormant for some seven years since the great decline at the end of the eighth season, and so-hampered the Powers-That-Be are finding it impossible to keep the Opposition pinned down. Then Treguard and Majida receive unexpected news of the best possible kind  -  Marblehead has fallen.
